Who We Are

Burkett’s Decks is the premier, custom deck builder based out of Lawrence, KS. We offer pine, cedar, and composite options. Our integrity, craftsmanship, and service set us apart from the competition.

The Owner

Jacob Burkett has been building decks professionally for over four years. He is a licensed Class C Residential Building Contractor in Lawrence, Eudora, De Soto, and Johnson County.

He and his wife, Macy, met during a church mission trip to Tennessee in 2010. The mission provided handyman services to the underprivileged community. And believe it or not, their first mission was building a deck for a community member with mobility issues.

They have resided in Lawrence since 2018. They have two sons, Eli and Mace.

My Story

  • 2010 - I meet my lovely future wife Macy.

  • I learn I really enjoy building things!...

  • and complete my first deck!

  • 2011 : 2017 - I serve on active duty with the US Air Force.

  • 2017 - Then marry my beautiful wife.

  • 2018 - We move to Lawrence and buy our first house.

  • 2020 - I Start my first business with friends. Short lived but I learned a lot.

  • 2021 - Burkett Residential LLC is finally incorporated.

  • 2022 - My family grows by 1 :)

  • 2022 - Brian joins and makes the company a 2 man show.

  • 2023 - Brian and I grind hard and the company becomes more established.

  • 2024 - Focus shifts from all forms to handyman work to soley exterior carpentry, mainly decks.

  • 2024 - The team expands and we build A LOT of decks.

  • 2025 - My family grows again!

  • 2025 - We celebrate the $1 Million milestone.

  • 2025 - To better reflect our core service, I change the name to Burkett's Decks.

  • 2026 - We continue to provide the best service and highest quality decks to our clients.
